My moving day experience (with Moving Buddy)

I've lived in Lakewood for a little over four years now & have slowly upgraded apartments. my first on Phelps Avenue was an old house (built in the 1920's) split up into four apartments. it was cute & had so much character, but was very outdated. I lived there for two years before moving to Coronet Club on Detroit, across the street from Around The Corner. an upgrade but it was lacking with no in-unit laundry, no central air, etc.

I lived there for two years & recently decided to move to Center North, still on Detroit in Lakewood. the unit I toured had everything I hoped for: stainless steel appliances, walk-in closet, central air & in-unit laundry.

when I moved to Lakewood a few years ago I made the unfortunate decision to move in December, so I'm now in a never ending cycle of moving in the winter. haha! in moves past, my family & I have done the heavy lifting. but this time around, I partnered with a local moving company, Moving Buddy, to move me into my new home!

to kick things off, I booked my move online. it was such a simple process & started the experience out on a great note. I packed everything into boxes & bags, with the exception of furniture.

tip: when I move I like to put my clothes (on hangers) in garbage bags. that way, if a sweater comes off the hanger, it doesn't get lost/dirty.

leading up to moving day, Moving Buddy reached out to confirm details & answer any questions I had. their goal is to make moving as stress-free as possible! it was great going into the day not worrying about how we'll move the couch (getting it into the apartment was a whirlwind...)

THE BIG DAY! my Moving Buddy crew arrived right on time. I gave the crew an overview of everything that needed to be moved & they hit the ground running. first, they moved all of my bags & boxes into the truck. then they tackled the furniture, including disassembly.

after everything was loaded into the truck, we drove a mile down Detroit & they unloaded everything into my new home. yay! from start to finish, the Moving Buddy crew took only about 3.5 hours (true to the original quote provided). they were so efficient & made moving day much less stressful. I can't imagine moving without a crew again!

I've settled into my new apartment over the past week & absolutely love it. it's the perfect size for me & the aesthetic is a 10/10!

one of my favorite things about my new apartment is that Forage Public House is in my building on the first floor. so... I've taken it upon myself to explore their menu... almost every day since I've moved in. oops? but look at this food, how could I not!?
